November 2015

Well I guess all that's really left to talk about this month is the boys and a little Thankgiving.

Rex:

Rex has been cracking us up this month with all the tales he comes home from Kindergarten with.  I told Will the other day it's "As the Kindergarten World Turns", and he said it was "Days of our Kinder-lives"  Its so true Kindergarten is a little soap opera.  Rex tells us who lost 5 minutes at recess, who was "absent" that day, who pushed who in line, and who has the most and the least stickers on the sticker chart, we get all the detail.  Here is one of the sagas that went on this month.  So Haley is his "girlfriend" (who actually lives 3 houses away from us and we never knew it) and Lauren is who he's going to marry.  Lauren told Rex if he is nice to her dad then they can date in College.  But then later this month Lauren was trying to decide between Rex and Noah who she wanted to marry.  Noah drew a lovely picture of him and Lauren holding hands under a rainbow and gave it to Lauren.  Then Lauren gave the picture to Rex.  And when Rex told Lauren Thank You, Noah said "shouldn't you be telling me thank you?!".  Noah wanted it back but Rex wanted to keep it because it was from Lauren.  We advised him he probably ought to give it back.  So he finally did but by then Noah said he could keep it, he was drawing another picture for Lauren.  In the mean time Rex drew his own picture to give Lauren.  It was probably the sweetest picture he's ever drawn of him and her holding hands, with flowers, and a heart above them. Melt my heart.   (just a side note after that he drew another picture of his bottom and himself going potty :/ )  So anyway that was just a sampling of the Kindergarten drama we get to hear about everyday.

Rex brought a note home from school on the 19th that he was going to be honored as the student of the month the next day and we could come to the morning awards ceremony.  Luckily Will was off and on days schedule from having been at ILEAS training earlier in the week so we all went to watch.  He was pretty shy about having to go up in front of all the kids but he did great.  We were all very proud of him.

Grant had a playdate with Roman.  We built a fun train set they both enjoyed. (Rex joined them after school)

Grant:

"Mommy you can't see me!"

I think Grant has been a little bit lonely this month with Rex at school.  We've been in the school routine for a while but I think he's kinda done with solo play time.  He wants me or Will to play with him constantly all day.  He also shadows me all over the house with whatever I'm doing.  Maybe this is just a new phase where he is becoming a little more aware of others around him and not in his own world so much?  Whatever it is its been tuff some days.  Im used to gettting stuff done around the house with him playing happily on his own.  I love that he wants to do stuff with me but I need him to also be able to do stuff on his own sometimes.  Im trying to set aside some designated Grant time everyday to kinda fill up his Mommy playtime bank and embrace having him by my side to "help" me with whatever I'm doing.
On Veterans Day Will was away at training so the boys and I had a fun day with Lunch at 5 Guys followed by watching Inside Out and the dollar theater.

Took the boys to the Zoo on Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  It was in the 50's chilly but not too cold.  We practically had the place to ourselves and had some fun animal encounters you don't get when it crowded.

boys loved having the children's zoo playground all to thereselves

had fun watching Kali the new polar bear.

that is an anaconda trying to get out of its cage to eat my babies!

had a lunch picnic in the back of the van....this may have been the highlight of the day for the boys they loved eating in our van.  (silly boys)

The table all set for Thanksgiving dinner. (didn't get any pics once the grandparents and the food arrived!)

Quotes from the Month:........

hmmm I know there were some I just didn't get them written down. I'll try to do better.
