June 12-19 Kansas!

We all had a really good family vacation spending the week in Kansas.  We did some things we like to do every visit, like feed Blaze (the horse) handfuls of grass, go to Emporia's tiny zoo, and eat at Casa Ramos, we also did some new stuff like check out the city water park, and a day trip to the Kansas Cosmosphere!  They say a picture is worth a thousand words so I wont say much, I'll let the pictures do most of the talking.

Steaming fresh fajitas at Chuy's, a Mexican Restuarant I wanted to try in Kansas City.  It happened to be on the plaza so we checked out the fountain across the street.  (I have a KC half marathon tshirt with this exact fountain on it!)

I love watching the Kansas Skies.  This was the best display of Mommatus Clouds I've ever seen.  I learned about them in Aviation, if your flying they mean the air is very turbulent, if your on the ground they are pretty cool to look at.

Grant got to help Grandpa take some feed to the cows and feed the cats.  There was a new baby born in the barn our first day there.  Grant and Blaze where checking him out.  At the end of our visit Grant and I got to ride along with Grandpa Jerry to take them back out to pasture.  It was kinda sweet watching the 2 of them run off together into the big green pasture.  I thought "if I was a cow this is where I would want to live."

On Thursday of our visit I got to spend the day catching up with 2 of my very best friends.  Danya and Neva.  The rest of the crew (Will, Rex, Grant, Grandma Kay, Grandpa Jerry, and Cousin Hannah) headed to Hutchinson for the day to check out the Cosmosphere.  At the end of the day they picked me up and we had dinner with the Krous family.  (why did I not take a picture of that?)
Neva drove me by our old house.  It looked pretty good I thought.  Seems like a lifetime ago that Will and I lived there.

On Friday we got a surprise visit from Uncle Jason!  Then we all went to Finding Dory.

I think Kansas has the prettiest prairie land anywhere.  The pastures are full of yellow, orange, purple, and white flowers.  This is the stuff hay gets made out of for the cattle. Again, If I were a cow "I would want to eat hay from the Flint hills! Yum"
Monarch Milk Weed (one of my favorites!)

Grant (and Rex before the visit was over)  got to go on Combine rides while the wheat was being harvested.

Will is the tall dude at the top of the stairs, holding Grants hand, if you really look close Rex is in blue shirt about the get on the slide.
We all had a really good time at the Aquatic Center, the boy loved the water slide!  Rex was tall enough to go down the Blue slide by himself!  In all the years we lived in Emporia, Will had never been and I had only been twice to take Millie to the pooch plunge at the end of the season.  It was kinda fun to take the boys there and do something new in town.

One our way home Will was nice to indulge me a little bit by finding a coffee place I wanted to go to in Kansas City, followed by trying a new burger place, followed by letting me shop at the Title 9 Womens athletic clothing store next door.  BurgerFi was very good I would definitely eat there again!

We had a great Visit!  We will be back in a few short months to run 26.2 miles !
