A September to Remember

I think the theme for this month is MILES: We logged a lot of miles this month in and out of the car and also a lot of memories. A trip to Kansas City for Will, Our family Florida trip, 2 trips to preschool and back a week, MOPS starting back up this month twice a month, and also lots of training runs for my upcoming half marathon and Will's upcoming Chicago Urbanathalon.

Our trip to Florida was a great first family vacation!  The boys overall did really well for the 2 days of driving both ways.  Especially Rex that boy is a road warrior!  They also slept in Hotels better than we thought they would.  We had a lot of fun at the McQuaids house.  Sally and Aaron were great hosts for us.  Rex and Titus especially hit it off this visit and had lots of fun teaming up as fire fighters.  Of Course the highlight of the trip was our beach day.  It was really fun to introduce both boys to the ocean.  They were both kinda afraid at first and didn't really even want to get in but by the end of the day Grant was happy to go out on someones hip and Rex had a lot of fun jumping the waves with us as they came in.  But more than the ocean the boys both really loved the beach and the sand.  They and their cousins spent most of the time playing in the sand.

Will got a much deserved boys only weekend getaway and went to watch a MLS KC Sporting soccer game with his brother.  Sounds like they both had fun and the Sporting even won!  (next time I wanna go!) This month was also the end of Will's soccer season.  His team finished in 4th place in the league.  A new league started at the end of them month and.....wait for it....Im playing too!!  Mom and Dad are watching the kids for us every Sunday night for the next 8 weeks so Will and I can go play soccer together.  How awesome is that!!  Our first 2 games have been cancelled so here's to hoping for some soccer in October. We also hosted the Battleson Family for a week while they had some major plumbing work done.  Their almost 2 year old Roman fit right in here and by the end of the visit we decided to elevate him to cousin status.

Rex:  Well Rex is now a student.  3 year old preschool is going great!  All summer I have worried that he would cry and cry when I dropped him off, and Ive also worried he wouldn't obey, or participate, and have tantrums....you know all the stuff he does at home with me.  But all of my worrying was for nothing.  He really seems to love going and every time I pick him up he yells "Mommy!  I had fun! I did!".  He comes home with really great art work everyday and cute songs and is even learning some good life rules like the other day when he told me, "Mommy you get what you get and you dont throw a fit". Even though our schedule is now a lot busier with preschool 2 days a week and Mops starting up I think we were all ready for a new routine and am liking it so far.  Also Rex's love for Star Wars continued to blossom this month.  He wants to know every persons name, if they are good or bad, and then either create an outfit or a weapon out of construction paper so he can become them for a while....did I mention he HAS NOT seen the movies.

The "put the ring in your mouth and spit it out at your brother" game was invented the other night they were both belly laughing and having a great time.  I love watching them start to play and have fun with each other.

We dumped some gravel from the sand bags in the back of Will's truck into the little red wagon and we now have a portable construction site.

We found a hammock in our attic and have been enjoying relaxing in it this month

Grant towards the end of our second day of our travls to Florida....he whatever keeps him happy

Grant:  Whew the beginning of the month got off to a ruff start with Mr G.  He was cutting his top two I teeth and it was quite a painful process for all of us.  The good news is they dont seem to be hurting him as much anymore the bad news is they STILL aren't in!  Grants words are really starting to POP.  He often repeats words to us after we say them or says the last part of a phrase.  Like "end" for "the end" or "you" for "thankyou".  Its really exciting and fun to hear all these words coming out of him every day.  It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that every night this month he has been up at least once in the night.  At first I thought it was teeth, then our trip, and then teeth again?, and just when I was about to start cracking down on going in and holding him he got a stomach bug and so now im babying him again.  Maybe next month well start working on sleeping through the night again....maybe. sigh.
