RUN-tober

Me at the Hero Run half Marathon in Mascoutah, IL Oct 5th

Whew this month Will and I have both been busy running races and playing soccer, and the boys well they are just always busy running around the house, the yard, even in a 5K with me.  We've also ALL had colds!  Some of us still have them.  Good thing we have lots of handkerchief.

Will and Beth:
I started off the month with the Hero Run Half Marathon in Mascoutah, IL.  I was excited about it because it was my come back half marathon since having the boys and it was my first one in over 5 years.  I felt like I had gotten in enough long runs in and training to be ready to run it but still knew this probably wouldn't be a PR for me. (PR: personal record).  It turned out to be a really tuff run for me.  I kind hit a wall about mile 9 and really had to push through and pray for the strength and energy to finish the race.  I did feel I got a heavenly surge of energy that helped me to finish the race, but with pretty much nothing left.  I finished in 2 hours and 11 minutes.  Definitely my slowest half marathon to date but thats ok I got it done and its good to have one under my belt again.  The very next weekend I ran the fallen heroes DEA 5K in Ofallon, IL.  Will ran this race last year and got second overall.  He would have really like to defend hit title but he had to work.  So I went to defend his honor....did I mention I had both of the boys in a jogging stroller with me?  Well we didn't come in 2nd over all but we did actually have a really fun time.  The boys really liked running with all the people and Grant loved seeing all the police cars at all the blocked intersections.  Rex also like to see some of the younger kids (like 10 and 12 years olds) that were running the race he thought that was cool and he would like to do it some day.  We ended up finishing in 26:24 which earned us 12 place overall for women (out of 74) and 4th place in my age division (just missed getting a medal).  The next weekend after that it was Will's turn.  He and 2 other co-workers ran in the Chicago Urbanathalon.  Which consisted of 10 miles and 10 obstacles with in those miles.  With everything from barricade hurdles, to monkey bars, balance beams, a half mile stair climb in soldier field, and even a cargo net climb over a city bus to end it.  He had a good time being in the city and doing something a little different than your normal race.  We also have been having fun playing soccer on Sunday nights together.  Mom and Dad have been really great to watch the boys for us so we can go play.  I am still trying to brush the rust off after not having played any kind of organized soccer for 10 years, Will definitely has the rust worn off and its fun to be on the field playing with him.  It kinda makes me remember why I had a crush watching him play soccer at Central so many years ago.

Rex and Grant:

Since I did individual posts about Rex and Grant this month I thought I would put up a bunch of the pics I have been taking of the 2 of them lately.  They are really starting to play with each other.  Its really fun to watch.  They love to chase each other, and giggle together, and mimic each other, and Grant was even tickling Rexie the other day say "tick-ew, tick-ew" however then he sat on him and said "wide wide" (ride-ride) and bounced on Rex's stomach and Rex screamed.

Riding the carousel at the St. Louis Zoo with Gma and Gpa.  When they were done Grant had a new phrase "up and down"

Chase!

Ill never turn to the dark side!

Dont they both look so Ornery here!?

both stuffing their faces with Mac a Roni

So I was trying to take a lovely pic of two brothers on the swing, however neither one of them was having it.  But when I looked at this picture I kinda liked it because I think its a perfect example of how the two of  them deal with things.  Rex didn't want to be doing it but he stayed sitting he just threw a crying sceaming fit, Grant on the other hand just completely defies me and gets down immediatley with with no remorse or worry for the consequences.

Halloween pics will be coming soon!
