July, #summersummersummer

Lots of pictures coming your way for July.  It's officially summer and we are in full summer mode.  Sleeping in, long lazy mornings in jammies, The table completely trashed everyday by the book making/lego stories the boys are creating and working on, a constant load of swim trunks and towels in the washing machine, some neighbor child at our house almost constantly, literally no plan for dinner half the nights of the week, catching lightening bugs, late bedtimes.

The boys and I went to the library one morning and Rex got hooked on the the Captain Underpants series and the Dog Man books. (both by the same author).  They are definitely for young elementary boys, and while i'm not thrilled he's reading about a boy that runs around in his underpants and fights toilets, and other sewer creatures.  I am thrilled that he is reading!  He has read through 4 books this month already and has several more on reserve.

4th of July weekend!:
Our 4th ended up being more eventful than we originally thought.  We really didn't have any plans.  Greenville was having a parade and fireworks for the Bond County Bicentennial Celebration so I thought Were not doing anything why don't we make a quick overnight trip to Greenville.

Here we are waiting for the Parade to start. (dont we look patriotic!)

I took a picture of the Great and Mighty Weiner Mobile and sent it to my sisters in our group text.  Annie's family was on their way to Chicago to see Steve's sick Grandma and she was texting us all about the road trip as they went.  Several text and a phone call later they we on their way to Greenville to see the fireworks and spend the night!  What a great surprise!

I love how much these cousins love each other.

Will had to work the weekend but he made it just in time for the fireworks.  Love this shot!

The Stahr's only stayed till lunch, the visit was short but sweet

My attempt at a group picture....

Back at home on the 4th, we had a nice relaxing day (aside from Will getting a ILEAS call out for the mid day) we had smores, sparklers with neighbors and watched fireworks in the distance.

Will's buddy from Emporia PD brought his family to St. Louis for vacation.  We got together with them one day and showed them the City Museaum then they came to Fairview another day we took them to our trampoline park; SkyZone, Lunch at Olive Garden and they came and hung out at our house for a while.  Don't have too many pictures of all of it.  They had 3 boys 10,13, and 16

That's Grant and Daddy towards the top and right

Look out below...its Grant

Rex is in Jail!

Why do I always end up with more pictures of Grant?

The boys both went to a week long sports vbs camp.  They had a lot of fun but it was a very hot week I picked them up dripping  a sweating each day.  I took them to McDonalds to celebrate "surviving" Sports camp, then they begged and pleaded if we could have a picnic in the van.  It seemed silly to me (we were 10 mins from home!) but realized this was a super simple thing I could do that would mean a lot to them.  So we sat in the McDonalds/Grocery store parking lot and had a wonderful picnic!

Im going to end this July post a bit early because we are headed off to the Smokey Mountains!  Will and I loved it so much last year we are very excited to take the boys back with us this year!
