April 2021-Bee's, Birthdays, and Baptisms!

My Friend Abbie invited us all out to her homestead farm to help her process the honey from her beehives.  Sadly, all her bees died during the extreme cold spell in February.  But it was lucky for us we were able to get up close to see the inner workings of a bee hive! (and she already has traps set in her woods to hopefully catch a swarm)

the plan was to extract all the honey from the combs...but the extractor was not cooperating....but we still got to go home with some honey!

HAPPY 9TH BIRTHDAY GRANT!!

Grant had a fun filled weekend of Birthday festivities.

1st we had the neighborhood kids over for a super backyard nerf battle
and Donuts for dessert!

Then is was time for a family party with Gma and Gpa and GGma Lois.

Then finally a trip to the Arcade with Grant's best buddy Elijah.

(Rex's prizes from the arcade)

                                                                 EASTER 2021

Next up was Mom's Birthday.  I got invited to a British Tea with My mom and Grandma Lois.  It was so much fun! and so yummy!!

Grant got Baptisted!  He had wanted to last year but...2020....so this year he was very ready.  We were blessed to have lots of family there to celebrate with us!

Loved this little shot I snapped of Grant during math!
School is not always easy for Grant.  He has struggled with reading, writing, and math facts all year.  If it's verbal or taught orally he is great, but getting it down on paper is hard for him.  Luckily being homeschooled I am able to tailor most everything we learn to a way that he learns best.  But the fact still remains that he need to be able to read and write fluently.  We have begun taking steps to get him tested for Dyslexia.  We are all a bit anxious to find out if that is what he has or not, it sure would explain a lot of his issues.  Hopefully we will have some answers as soon as next month.

We have been busy all month attending 2 different coops-2 different days of the week.
On Mondays we are attending an indoor coop where the boys were able to pick their class they attend for the full 8 week session.  they ended up picking the same classes (and I help in those exact same classes.) 1st hour -Animals, 2nd hour-Drawing, and 3rd hour (after a lunch break) is Chess.  We are all really enjoying it.

On Wednesdays we meet with an outdoor coop that meets at a local park.  Grant is in the 9-10 year old Group, Rex in the 11+.  The groups choose a theme for the week like art, science, language arts, etc, then the parents assigned to that group take turns teaching.  It is a completely different feel from the indoor but we are also enjoying it.  Next year we will probably only be in 1 of the groups (at 1 time) but I'm glad we were able to try out some of the options close by to us to get involved with other homeschool families. Both of these groups have a fall and spring session.

We did a mini study on Tulips....Grant's tulips are lovely!

yea so it snowed!  Like all day! wierd

I got my 2nd covid shot....I felt really bad for about 6 hours the next day....but now I'm Vaccinated! Definitely worth it.

Greenville had spring City wide yard sales.  Mom had a lot of things from cleaning out her basement.  The boys did not have as much this year but were both still able to make some extra cash.

Grant wanted to help clean out the gutters!

Not a great pic but this is Rex and Grant (and another studend Noah) all getting their 1st strip at Jiu Jitsu.  They have been working hard every single Mon/Wed and have learned so much since they started in January!

Rex is 11!
We enjoyed the day off school, swimming at the REC, ice cream cake and a trip to the arcade (of course!)

We took a Field trip to Springfield, IL

Wow!  What a busy month!  Here comes May
