Rex is 5!

HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY REX

Started off the day with a birthday donut and building a lego set he got at Legoland the day before

opening an early present before school from the McQuaids

Rex wanted a Star Wars Clone Wars themed Birthday.  And to have Lem and Ezra over.  So even though it was just our 2 neighbor boys that are over here all the time this was our first kids birthday party so we tried to make it fun.

We made light sabers out of pool noodles and the boys got to each take one home.

opening the Lego Jabba's Sail barge set.  I found it on craigslist so it was already put together.

Fun with lightsabers

the Cake

Yoda Soda was our drink

Star Wars molded Jello Jigglers. (this is also what he took to school for his birthday treat)

Party time

My birthday boy.

Time for presents

Look out there is a new sheriff in town.

I am really proud of my Rexie boy at 5.  Four was a pretty good year overall. He has learned a lot in preschool this year, had fun, and has some good buddies.  He knows his alpha-bit letters and 1-12 then it gets a bit dicey counting to 20.  He wants to please me and tries to do the right thing more often than not.  He and Grant are starting to be good buddies and enjoy playing pretend together.  He Loves, loves, loves his Star Wars and will talk to it to anyone that will listen for as long as they will listen.  He likes video games, and movies, not too into sports yet but he is pretty fast at his big wheel bike now and loves to play outside on the swing set or to go on trails in the woods.  Rex gets fiercely angry when he gets hurt, emotionally or physically.  I feel like he cries way to often over way too much.  He is still super duper healthy.  I dont think we had any doctors appts between last years 4 year old check up and this one.  Right now he says he wants to be a police officer when he grows up and his favorite color is Red and Blue (yes I know that is 2 colors).  He is the most amazing sleeper.  He goes right to bed at bedtime every night and sleeps all night and usually sleeps in till 8 or later.  We have been working on reading some and he is pretty good when I can get him to focus and concentrate and do it. Weve been saying for a while when he turns 5 no more thumb sucking (except at bedtime in his room).  Were only about a week in so far but he is doing really well.  In the afternoon sometimes he whines that he wants to suck his thumb but overall it hasn't been too bad.  He is still a picky eater and spends most of dinner talking, and goofing off and not eating much.  Sometimes he will just tell me "I am hungry and I want junk food." (at least he's honest).  At his 5 year old check up he was 35 lbs (15th percentile and only 3 lbs heavier than lil brother)  He loves being read to and usually asks for more books when im ready to be done.  He has to give me or Will hugs and kisses and usually a second round of hugs and kisses and I love yous and Ill miss yous before we can go anywhere.  Thats my Rexie Boy and I love him.
