April Vacation!

Vacation was a blast!

Grant said he didn't want to watch the movie...
I kinda feel like we had 3 vacations in one or at least 3 phases of our vacation.

Phase 1: Lincoln, NE

Luckily Will had his ILEAS training the 2 days before vacation started so he was already switched over to day shift schedule.  We had been planning to leave about 1 in the afternoon on Friday and get in really late to Lincoln.  But instead we were able to leave first thing in the morning and be there by dinner.  Amy and Michael treated us to their favorite burger place in town Honest Abe Burgers for dinner.  They were really good.  and it was nice to spend the evening settling in at their house.

The Capital Building in Lincoln.  We went up to the very top and took a short tour

My picS don't do it justice it's very beautiful inside

Lincoln Lovers

On Saturday we had a fun day around Lincoln.  First we went to the State Capital building and toured it.  They dont build buildings like that anymore. It is really really beautiful inside.  After that Amy and Michael took us to a local place for lunch called Runza.  Where they serve Runza kinda like a beer-rock.  It was different but good.  Then we went to the Lincoln Childrens Museum.  It was just the right size for the boys.  It was 3 stories and had a lot to see and do.  Many of the areas had dress up clothes you could put on.  the boys really liked putting on the outfits and playing in all the different areas.  Some of the boys favorite areas were the climbing area that was made to look like prairie dog wilderness area.  They both really liked sitting inside the tractor of a semi truck, Grant liked the tractor that had a screen that made it look like you were driving in a field, Rex spent a lot of time in the doctors office area, both of them like the astronaut outfits and space area and the plane area.  Grant also really liked the water play area.

After the museum we regrouped at the house for a bit and then went to a good italian/pizza buffet resturant and went to Saturday night church.  The boys went right to sleep that night!

Grant really liked Michael

We swing everywhere we go.
Sunday was a bit more laid back.  Will and I got to go for a 4.6 mile run together while Amy and Michael watched to boys.  We found a big fun (and busy) park in the afternoon and then some yummy home made ice cream in the old town section on Lincoln.  Amy and Michael made us some awesome burgers for dinner that night too.  Monday we had a some really good donuts from a local place (we ate a lot if you haven't noticed) and then headed off for phase 2 of our trip.

PHASE 2:  Kansas City

ready to go at Great Wolf Lodge
We surprised the boys and spent the night at Great Wolf Lodge.  Im not sure if they were more excited about the water park or the bunk beds?  We got there mid afternoon and hung out at the hotel and swam and played all evening.  Tuesday we had a fun surprise when Grandma Kay and Grandpa Jerry were able to come spend the morning with us.  We were able to get them into the water park area to watch the boys play.  Then we went to lunch at a fun train restaurant where trains deliver your food at in Crown Center and even got to meet uncle Jason there too.

the boys love the arcade.

Surprise visit from Grandma and Grandpa.

Our last stop of the day was LegoLand Discovery Center in Kansas City.  We spent most of the afternoon there and we practically felt like we had the place to ourselves.  The boys both had fun and Grant is quite a bit older than last time when we went to he was able to go ride the rides and play in the play land and have a lot of fun too.

We got a pretty late start home and I was just sure the boys would crash as soon as we got in the car.  But they amazed me and both stayed awake until about the last 25 minutes of the trip.

Phase 3 I guess is my next blog post. (Rex's Bday) When we got home late Tuesday Will still didn't have to be back at work till Friday so we had 2 more days to spend with him.  And even if we are just at home if Will is up when we are it feels like a vacation.  We kinda hit the ground running with Rex back to school Wednesday and planning and prepping for his birthday all day Wednesday.

It was great vacation and we are already looking forward to another on at the end of May to Emporia.
