AH May how do I love thee let me count the ways? Probably my favorite month of the year. I love the weather in May, I love the beginning of summer, our wedding anniversary, Mothers day, lots of birthdays (one of which is mine), the return of t-shirts and shorts, and flip flops, and long runs without getting to cold or too hot, I love watching the garden take off and start growing, I love having the windows open all day and night in the house. May is my month and May 2014 was another great one!
Will and Beth:
My Garden is growing!
Lets see whats new with Will and I? Well we are both 32 now. I had a great birthday with a fun family dinner out with Mom and Dad (also to celebrate Dad's bday) one night then the next night Will and the boys took me out for dinner and ice cream. Then that weekend I ran in the YMCA half marathon. It was a really really beautiful morning and I had a great run. Actually better than I thought I would. It was kinda like everything came together at the right time, in the right place, I was really running and praising God for 13.1 miles for the weather, my health, for my energy, for my family, everything I could think of. Will has kinda split his time this month between sleeping in the day and sleeping at night. He has had to switch from one to the other over and over again I dont know how he does it without complaining (I know I would) but he doesn't he just does it. First for vacation, then for work training, then for our Anniversary weekend.
And speaking of Anniversaries we celebrated our 10 year anniversary on the 29th! Its kinda hard to believe its already been 10 years, 10 GREAT years! We celebrated with a weekend alone in St. Louis (thanks to Mom and Dad for watching the boys all weekend) and we are looking forward to many many more wonderful years together.
Will and I took the Great River Road to Grafton and enjoyed lunch while overlooking the Illinois River.
The boys discovered bubble baths
Rex:
chilln' pool side.
Rex getting his first cleaning at the dentist, he did GREAT!
Rex finished up his 3 year old preschool this month and is in full summer mode. Enjoying sleeping in many days, playing with his neighbor buddy Ezra every chance he gets, and swimming in the kiddie pool many afternoons. There is always going to be drama with Rex he is just a dramatic guy but he has really had a good month for the most part, we've been really busy so maybe that helps but Im optimistic we are getting out of the rut we have been in for a few months. I feel like we are starting to have some small victories at the table this month. Rex is starting to try some new things and find out he likes them. He has been eating more overall (which still isn't that much) and we have been working on manors at the table too. We've still got a long way to go but its a step in the right direction. Rex also discovered Knock Knock jokes this month. He has about 3 or 4 he know and tells me about 20 times a day. If you would like to hear one just ask him, but you probably wont hear just one!
Rex and Ezra (rex's next door neighbor best buddy) digging a hole to the sewer to capture the Rumor Weed (from Larry Boy). They were busy for a LONG time working on their attack plan.
Captain America Rex...his first ever face painting.
boys at a local touch a truck event
PD car at touch a truck we took this for Daddy.
Rex tree climbing in one of our 2 trails we made in the woods behind our house.
One day this month we spent the entire morning outside in the back yard playing. It was just one of those perfect mornings outside, not too hot, not to cold, no bugs yet to bother us. I grabbed my camera and got some great pics of the boys. I feel like they really capture the boys right now at 2 and 4, in fact I was going to take the boys to Portrait Innovations for some new 2 and 4 photos but I might just make some prints of these and frame them. Rex and Grant have really starting becoming buddies more lately. They used to mostly play by each other but not with each other. But more and more they are doing things together and kinda teaming up. Which means there is a lot of goofiness, silliness, and giggling going on. Sometimes I feel like I am in the movie dumb and dumber. NO! I dont think my boys are dumb, quite the opposite actually, I just mean that they egg each other on and get goofier and goofier when they are being silly together. And I know this is just the tip of the iceberg for silliness.
looking serious....but not for long.
Hold on!
Just being loud
"Cheese". I love his cheeks in this one, such a big boy but still some baby in their too.
My Rexie boy.
Grant on the swing.
Rex roaring at me and loving every minute of it, we have to be semi quiet in the house all day so when we are outside it is just fun to be loud because he can.
My view.
Love these feet.
GRANT:
One major milestone this month is that Grant got his last 2 year old molar in, which means we are officially done with teething!! WooooWhooo! He has definitely been sleeping better at night since. While I feel like we are starting to make some strides with Rex's eating Grant has absolutely no time or interest in food. He grazes on breakfast, nibbles on lunch and then usually just goofs off most of dinner until we let him down to get back to his trucks. He still loves his milk and fruit and will occasionally try something new especially if Rex does first but most of the time he's not interested in anything new. Grant is still just chattering away with all kinds of new phrases. Some of his common ones this month are "I want my Mommy," "Whats this?," "Where is Rexie," "yep i do", "What are you doing Mommy," and "NOooooo I dont want toooo!"(because after all he is 2).
Grant and Daddy
A little video of what I have to deal with.....he is saying "I gonna get stuck in jail now"
Thanks May you've been great. Now we are counting down the days till our big all Catron family get together Stay-cation in Greenville. If we all survive there will be many pics to post.
