365 Day Challenge: Week 4

So the lesson this week was about understanding White balance...huh?  Yeah I didn't even know what it was either.  So apparently you can change adjust the white balance on your camera to get better pictures in different kinds of lighting or to create a desired effect.  They showed us how to take a picture of  white piece of paper and then set that in our camera as a preset manual of what White should be, but most cameras also have a lot of preset white options you can manually choose when shooting.  I honestly wasn't too excited about the lesson this week so I wasn't sure if I was going to do it.  But very early Wednesday morning after lying in bed for 2 sleepless hours I finally decided to get up and found myself with some time to kill so I thought I would at least play around with our assignment and see what happened.  I shot a lot of pictures at first to just figure out what I was doing and how to make the settings work the way I wanted. In the end I found an amazing subject that was willing to pose for me and I was really surprised at how different the same picture could look by just changing the white balance setting.  So here are my results:

White balance-Pre-set
White balance-cloudy
White balance-cool white flourescent
White balance-incandescent
White balance-Auto mode
White balance-direct sunlight
White balance-shade
White balance-Flash

I know it is hard to see any difference between some of them but on my camera software when I compared them I could tell the difference between each one.  Any you cant shoot in all of these different modes while beings in Auto mode so it once again forced me to get outside of my auto comfort zone and shoot in Manual.  Im guess im glad I did the assignment after all.

In other news Momma and baby are healthy and Im up to date on my Bible readings.  Of course that is only because I was ahead when the week started now I am just right where I should be.  I have been really busy this week because over the course of this entire week we have been little by little re-arranging our upstairs (a special thank you to Will for all your lifting and pushing...Rex and I weren't much help there) so that Rex is in our old room and we are in Rex's old room.  Rex's old room, now our new room (it gets confusing) was the bigger of the two rooms and I hope once we get everything situated there will be more room in the new room to share it with little brother.  Since we only have 2 rooms, he will probably be rooming with us for quite a while.  I am happy with the results so far but still have quite a bit of work to do.  Maybe I can work pictures of the newly arranged rooms into one of my camera assignments soon.  Or I will just sneak them in.
