Last week Will was able to arrange his schedule so that he had 5 days off in a row. We really enjoyed all of our time together and during the weekend Will ran in the St. Louis Rock n Roll 1/2 Marathon. Even though Will was the only one that got to run we all enjoyed taking part in the race festivities. It was bitter sweet for me to be part of the race activities but not actually be running, so I really enjoyed having Rex to keep me company on the sidelines and getting to introduce him to his first (of many hopefully) 1/2 marathon race.
This was a photo we took at the fitness expo the day before the race.
I was excited (and as you can see Rex was too) when we got to the convention center for the expo because apparently there were Americas Got Talent auditions also going on in the same building! As we were coming in so were a whole line of contestants being lead into an audition holding room. I was hoping I would catch a peak of one of the judges but I dont even think they were actually there that day. I considered entering myself in the competition with my amazing one handed clap but since we were there for the marathon I decide to put my million dollar dream on hold for a while.
I took this picture as the sun was coming up before the race started. The race started at 7:30 so we all had to get up early especially so we could find parking downtown, but luckily since we live so close to downtown St. Louis now we didn't have to leave the house till about 6, which was when I got Rex up. I wasn't sure how that would go since he usually sleeps till 8 but he was just happy to be going along on an adventure with us, and it didn't hurt that Daddy treated Rex and I to McDonalds for breakfast.
Oh yea, did I mention it sold out with 25,000 people running in the event and tons of fans to watch....How will we ever find Daddy again?
Unfortunately these are my only during the race photos. I was really disappointed with the quality of the pictures I got. I dont know if I should blame my camera or myself for this. Maybe there is some setting I need to use for action photos? Anyway we were able to see Will go by at the 2 mile marker. There are actually some really good photos of Will during the race that the race photographers took, we are considering buying the digital images, considering this is all I have I think we should!
Hungry for a banana? This was part of the post race recovery area. I just liked the banana line up
This was the official race clock as Will crossed the finish line. Unfortunately there we sooooo many people I couldn't get close enough (especially with a baby stroller) to get a photo of Will crossing the finish line. If you cant read it, it says 1:41:11. Although I think Will's official chip time was 1:40:07
This was Will just minutes after he had finished, I dont think he looks like he just ran 13.1 miles! Apparently there is no amount of exercise that a multi grain bagel and a gatorade cant fix.
Rex needed some gatorade too after all the cheering for Daddy! (dont worry it was empty)
They has bands playing every mile of the race and several playing at a post race concert. But the big name band was Sugar Ray.
(he sounded pretty good for a 44 year old rock star from the 90's)
Rex wasn't sure what to think of the loud band at first but pretty soon he was enjoying it! Who wouldn't enjoy some classic tunes like, "Someday," "Fly," "When its Over," and "Every Morning"....and well thats really all their hits.

Here is a quick video of the band and Rex enjoying it. There was a lady dancing by us that Rex kept watching and then laughing at. Luckily she didn't see him laughing at her, to bad we didn't get any of that on video but we did get a little of Rex enjoying the concert. He kinda looks like a crazy groupie at the end.
After the concert we met up with Grandma and Grandpa for lunch and then we went home and all took naps! Will is already considering what his next event should be.
