We got robbed!...kind of

Yesterday morning (Wednesday) I left the house for work and opened my car...I noticed that a contact container was just sitting on my drivers seat I picked it up and thought it must have fallen out of my purse or something when I got out yesterday after work (I know I hadn't driven it since I came home from work Tuesday). Then I looked over to the passenger seat and the dog leash and box of kleenex that I keep in the back under the seats were sitting on the seat. Now I was startingto have a wierd feeling...I looked in the center console almost instinctivly next and the normal things seemed to be in there adaptor cords, my cd case of burnt cds, a hair brush, BUT my quarter collection was missing! Whenever I get quarters in my change I put them in my car and keep them for turnpike money when we run to Topeka or Wichita. My pile was getting pretty big I had about $3-$4 worth of quarters and one of those new whole dollars. I ran back in the house and yelled to Will if he had been in my car looking for something? He said no....why? I think someone was in my car in the night I said! At this point I had to run cuz I was going to be late for work. At lunch I did a full inventory of my car...which I dont keep too much in my vehicle but still what is in there I know what it is and where it should be. It turned out the only thing missing was the quarters! So I guess somebody got in my car in the night (which it is still bothering me that it was unlocked? but it must have been there was no sign of forced entry. I always lock it as I get out, in fact sometimes I even lock Will in the car because it is just a habit for me to hit the lock button on the door as I am getting out and sometimes if he is riding with me he hasn't even opened the door yet and I have it locked. Anyway I always lock it but I guess I didn't after work?? I just cant really remember.) Anyway I feel pretty fortunate that they didn't strip it of everything or that they didn't realize I have a hidden key somewhere on the vehicle that they could have found and driven off with it, or that they didn't realize that once they were in my car they could have pushed the garage door opener button and helped thereselves to anything in the garage or gain access to the house! Well I hope they can get some good stuff out of the vending machines with my quarters! Needless to say I will be parking my car in the garage at night now!

Ohh my goodness Beth!! I am so glad that all they got was $4. Did you report it to the cops? I realize its not much, but it could be happening to other neighbors too.

Well, keep safe and tell Will to partol your neighborhood at night.

I'm so glad you were alright. I do know that you lock your car all the time. That is puzzling. Are there any secret ways to open a vehicle that doesnt show forced entry? MOM

Usually people who take money aren't interested in stealing cars- more interested in getting stuff to buy drugs with- it's easier to get your next hit with change than a stolen car- at least that's been true in our experience.

Glad they didn't take much.
