Wow! Just like that the year is half over.
It was a fun busy June.
We started off the month with everyone from the Catron Clan arriving for a week of Durley Family Camp.
Annie brought all the kids over for some Smores on Sunday
Once Camp began it was time for services, kid classes, cousins, packs of kids roaming the camp ground, dining hall food, lake fun, the zip line, carpet ball, evening activities, the snack shop, new friends, and even a opossum named Homer!
Everyone out to celebrate a belated Gma Lois' 90th
Eli won the carpet ball tournament
sitting around visiting with friends and family!!!
WE NOW INTERRUPT YOUR CAMP EXPERIENCE FOR A JUI-JITSU TOURNAMENT
Yes you read that right. Rex caught wind of a tournament and talked Will into doing it too (Grant didn't think he was quite ready to do a tournament). It turned out that quite a lot of people from our small gym went. It was the Fuji BJJ Missouri State Championship. It was a really fun experience to be thrown into the world of a BJJ tournament. Will and Rex both enjoyed the experience very much. Will had a tuff first match and since it was single elimination, only got 1 match. Rex won his first match, which meant he got to move on, he lost his 2nd match, but was able to have 1 more match which was for 3rd place in his division. He won that and took home the bronze. It was really fun to watch him use all the techniques he has learned over the past 6 months and apply them successfully. (Will used techniques he has learned too....unfortunately the guy he was matched with used techniques Will hasn't learned yet.)
all the kids from class. They are all really becoming buddies.
The regulars on Monday and Wednesday night class.
matching event shirts!! yay!!
AND NOW BACK TO OUR SCHEDULED CAMP EXPERIENCE
(and the baby opossum named Homer....to make a long story short a family whose father is a conservationist saved Homer from it's dead mother on the side of the road and has been raising it for several weeks....so it came to camp. Homer's favorite activities are burrowing into your hair, hanging upside down by your fingers and eating tiny frogs in the grass)
And just like that before we knew it the week was over. And we were headed back home. Laura came home with us for 2 days! The boys enjoyed having a sister for a few days.
We had our first heat wave of the summer.
Rex, Grant, and Lucy all enjoyed pool time and water gun fights/wet tennis ball fetch.
Grant washing my van!
The boys and I went to Raging Rivers. (A water park in Grafton, IL on the Great River road)
That's a wrap.
