Springfield to Springfield Spring Break!

It's Spring Break!!
The boys Spring Break this year was the 3 days before Easter and 2 more after.  Will was away for the first 3 days at training in Springfield, IL and I had an idea back in January to go on an overnight trip to Springfield, MO over break and so our Springfield to Springfield Spring break was born.

To kick off spring break the boys and I had a fun quick overnight visit to Grandma Cindy's and Papa Rex's house.  They always spoil us and treat us like royalty.  (sorry no pics).

One Thursday the boys and I ventured up to Springfield, IL for the day and then we met up with Daddy for Dinner before we headed home. Rain was definitely a big theme of spring break but luckily the rain held off for our visit to the Lincoln home.  Grant had done a whole unit about Lincoln recently and was very excited to see his home.

Lincoln's home!
Looking just like it did when he lived there.
It is still 80% original to when Lincoln lived there.
His son sold it to the state for $1 with two stipulations.
It would always be kept in good repair, and no one would ever be charged to visit it.

Next we went to Scheels the mecca of all things sporting goods.
And they have a candy factory inside
And a giant fish tank with divers
And a video game arcade
And did I mention a Full sized ferris Wheel inside!

The boys both got new hats and sandals for the summer.
(maybe if we buy summer supplies it will hurry up and get here).
Rex also got a new big boy bike for his Birthday!

We did finally get to meet up with Daddy when he got out of class for dinner at pizza ranch.  It was a fun day the boys are at a great age to go and do things all day with them even by myself!

Friday we had a good relaxing chill day at home--just what we needed.

Saturday we went to the home opener of St. Louis FC football club.  It was the 2nd time for Will and I and the 1st for the boys to go to a "real" soccer game.  Once again it rained all day, but quit just at game time.  It was a chilly afternoon but at least not wet.  Of course the boys want to know when we are going to another game.

For Easter on Sunday we headed to Greenville enjoyed church and a yummy Easter Dinner.
We also did a little early celebrating for Grant's Birthday!

Monday we got up and had Krispy Kreme's at the Birthday boys request.  Then we loaded up and headed off to Springfield, MO.

yes that's what our house looked like on April 2nd.  sleet and snow covered. :(

Our first stop was the world head quarters bass pro shop!  We planned to just walk around and shop.  Then we found out they had a new aquarium, we were trying to decide if we wanted to check it out or not when a lady with 2 small boys asked me if we were going in.  I told her we weren't sure yet.  She said she could get our family in for free with her Membership.  We happily followed her into the aquarium and soon realized what a amazing treat we had been given.  We were there for 2 hours, it was really amazing.

Next stop was The Incredible Pizza Co.  (basically an aracade and pizza buffet combined)

We did finally get to our hotel and enjoyed some swimming before bed.

On Tuesady we visited Fantastic Caverns.  (this is us about to enter the cave)

creepy formations!!

That's pretty much it.  It was a busy full spring break and lots of fun!!
