Ugh Winter! January has been cold, cold, cold, and dark and dreary, and did I say cold? Here are a few pictures anyway its about all I can muster this month.
We've had a couple of good fires. I really like our fire place, when I use it.
I've just been admiring this lovely piece of furniture lately. It's been in the family since 1925 and I feel very honored to be the current caretaker of it.
Yay! Grandma and Grandpa took us to Papa Vito's!! It is our favorite local pizza place and the boys LOVE their grilled cheese.
So the boys play chess now?! Rex asked Will to teach him, Grant watched very intently the whole game. He asked to play the next night. Will kindly set up the board to play with him and we were both pretty amazed at all he grasped and understood about the game at age 5!
I rearranged the basement a bit...because of cabin fever I guess?
Sunday afternoon relaxation
Will's transition to nights has been a tuff one this year. None of us are used to it yet, or like it. Will is tired all the time. He and I both got colds right off the bat so when we have seen each other we've kinda both been zombies. We feel like we never see him anymore, even when he's off he's often busy and gone in the evenings. I'm used to being alone in the evenings about half the time from the old shift but now being alone all day EVERY day has been a hard blow to loose my best friend. Rex is old enough now that he is voicing his opinions on this new shift and he really doesn't like it. Being a Daddies boy. And he is quite the quiet police to me and Grant to make sure Dad can get his rest. If I use anything with a timer or that beeps Rex Tells me I need to stop making so much noise! And Grant....well Grant is another story, it's just not in his nature to be quiet. But such is the life of a cop and his family. Of course we are proud of him. We have been spoiled the last couple of year to have him on a day time shift. We will adjust, we will adapt, we will be stronger for it.....we will be whiny.
January sigh. And here comes February. I usually say what I/we are looking forward to in the month ahead. I really cant think of anything I'm looking forward to in February...except maybe it being over. Just get this whole year over with!
ps- I have Puppy Fever. Little Chocolate Lab Puppy Fever.
