| Grant says "HAY" |
We hadn't been to the farm since our Christmas/New Years visit so for Wills first week of vacation this summer we headed to Emporia (after a quick pit stop at the Indy 500.) This was our first time to travel with no diapers! Grant did a really good job telling us when he had to go potty in the van and had very few small accidents the whole trip. This is Exciting we are now a no pack-n-play, no diapers traveling family!

When we arrived the Krous family was there to greet us and have a yummy memorial day dinner with us. The brisket was some of the best Ive ever had. Tuesday morning Will and I headed out for soggy run in the flint hills and the boys found some treasures to play with in the basement. By late afternoon we all decided to head into town to check out the zoo. We also went across the street to the veterans memorial. Rex really liked seeing the tank and helicopter on display. I wanted to see how high the flood water of the Cottonwood were over the bridge. When we got done Kay mentioned dinner at the Chicken House and wondered what we thought. YES PLEASE! (probably my favorite place to eat fried chicken anywhere).

Here are a couple of funny quotes from the boys that I wrote down on the trip:
During the road trip we were past Kansas City and on I-35 to Emporia the boys had both been zoned into a movie for a while and Rex looked up and said "Hey I see cows in that field, we must be in Kansas now!"
While looking at the old Tank on display in Emporia Rex and I climbed to the top and peeking inside the hatch to look inside the tank. There was (unfortunately) trash and lots of old cans mostly it was cans of Orange soda and Coke Rex saw all that and said "Oh is that what they used to drink in there?"
When we were out at the farm in the living room after having been outside for a while Grant was looking out the front door and said,
"Mommy can Bell come inside?"
"No" I said
So of course Grant asked "Why Not?"
so I said "Because Bell is a dirty old farm dog, she just has to stay outside"
Grant kinda stared for a second, blinked and said "But Grandpa is inside...."
