Advent 2014

Last year Rex got a Star Wars Lego Advent calendar to open everyday of December and that was really fun to do but I wanted Advent to be about more that just Legos so I found a preschool appropriate daily advent reading and also a act of service calendar to do. The service jobs are really simple like "hug your dad" or "share a toy" just simple ways to get them to think about someone other than thereselves.   It was fun to do last year and I really think it helped him understand the Christmas Story better.  So we did it again this year.  (And Grant joined in with his own Lego City Advent calendar and he said the readings with us too I didn't really try to get him to memorize any of it but I was surprised sometimes when Rex would be stuck on a phrase Grant would chime in and say it perfectly!)  Everyday we did the new reading but we also read all the old readings from the other days too.  Pretty soon he had the early days memorized pretty well.  So I recorded him on the last day December 24th doing his Advent readings.  ( I did this last year too) He learned a lot last year but this year I was really impressed by how much he learned.  So hear is the video of him reciting it and also I pic of what we were reading:

I can't decide what I like most about that video. Rex's motions for glory and peace, bites of breakfast in between, or Grant playing in the background. :)
