Swing Set 2018

Well we bought a used swing set from a friend sight unseen.....maybe not the best idea in hindsight.  We got it at a really low price and were planning to replace our old one that is wearing out.

It had been sitting in their back yard in pieces for over a year and the elements had taken a toll on some of it.  We were a bit discouraged when it all showed up (thank you Papa Rex, Grandpa Jerry and Will for hauling it all!) with quite a bit of it split or rotten.

Will inventoried the set with the manual and got a good handle on what was good and what needed replaced.  We decided to see about getting replacement parts through the company since they would fit exactly and in some cases already be pre-drilled to fit specific locations.  But knew the cost of parts or shipping fee might not make it worth it.  When we entered all the part numbers in and pessimistically went through the checkout procedure we were shocked to see that it was all covered under the warranty and we even got free shipping!! It arrived quite quickly and luckily Will still had several days of vacation after we got back from our trip to work on it.

Once we got the new pieces the rest of the re-build was relatively easy it just took time and a lot of screwing and tightening and a good bit of reverse engineering to figure out what was already built, what wasn't, and how it all needed to fit together.

TA-DA It's done!
Half of the neighborhood kids have already been over to play on it (and it's still standing)!  The boys have been running out everyday after school to get some time in on it before homework.
