July fun 2018

Wow July now feels like a busy blur of trips, sun, puppy mayhem, and mosquito bites.
Everything a July should be I guess!

Overall we've had a very cool July, but it started out with some hot days and on one of the hottest of them all the boys and I went to Splash City and really enjoyed the cool water.

Miss Lucy Lab is growing and loosing teeeth all over the place.  She's up over 30lbs and now 5 months old.  But more on her in another post.

FAMILY VACATION TO STARVED ROCK STATE PARK

I've been wanting to check out this park in "northern Illinois" for a while now.   (it's northern to us....the Chicagoans would probably call it southern Illinois).  We planned it as our family vacation this year not totally sure what we were getting ourselves into.

Turns out it was the perfect trip for us this summer!  We rented a Condo/Cabin/House place that we all really liked.  (Will was real estate shopping by the end)  It was also perfect to bring Lucy with us and have her stay there while we were out exploring. The trails were pretty, flat, and very manageable distances for the boys.  They both impressed Will and I with how well they did out on the trails and really enjoyed it.....Plus we never had to worry about any wild animals attacking us because we had our own noise makers everywhere we went.

this was one of Grants favorite places to hang out in the cabin/condo.

Most of our hiking was done in beautiful Canyons, and most of the time we had them all to ourselves

The play ground an the condo resort area sign said "Glass Castle, Union Land".  We played here when we first arrived and then the boys (Grant especially) kept asking to go play and "onion land"  I had no idea what he was talking about till we got back to the play ground the next time.
Duh! Union Land MOM!

The canyons were all formed out of Sandstone and sometimes after hiking for 20 minutes you would  come across a beautiful white sand beach with a waterfall!!......in the middle of Illinois!

Starved Rock we will definitely be back!

Uncle Jason came for the final of the World Cup!  It was  great game and we're so glad he came.

Lots of neighborhood kid action this summer!

TEXAS TRIP:
Mom, the boys, and I (and puppy) made the long trip to Tx to visit the Stahr Fam.  Annie and Uncle Steve jetted away to Washington DC and Mom and I held down the fort for 4 days!  1 Mom, 1 Grandma, 6 Kids, 2 Dogs, 4 days....Mission accepted.  It was a BUSY, whirlwind of a time, we all survived and even had a little fun.

The pups had a lot of fun together, Lucy really learned how to play from Sweetie.

Grandma had Daily beauty shop appts with her Stylist Laura.  Laura also let some of the others train to be stylists.

Lucy is 5 months old.....shhhh she doesn't know she's not a lap dog.

Dear Beth,
I love your blog. Each month seems better than the last and makes me wish I was there. But since I can't be there, this is certainly the next best thing. Your trip looks amazing - all this and no crowds?! great scenery! No, amazing! Kid time, trip to Texas (how did you really survive that?) And even Lucy info - my, how she has grown! Hope to come see you all soon. Thanks for this great blog! <3 <3 XOXOXOXO
