My poor neglected Nikon...

I have hardly used my really nice Nikon camera all year long.  When we get ready to go somewhere where I will be taking pictures I just usually opt for my phone lately.  It takes pretty amazing pictures and fits in my back pocket.  But I have to remember that my Nikon can take pictures and do things my phone cant if I'm willing to take the time to get it out and play with it a bit.  I guess it's nice to know it's in the closet waiting for me when I'm ready for it.  Anyway I got it out the other day and was just playing with it while the boys were playing in the back yard.  Just turned a normal playtime into a mini photo shoot.

I feel like this picture pretty well captures "parenthood"

My Pine tree climbing boys!

This is Grant's Day dream look....we see it often.....sometimes I wish I could see what he is seeing

Then several days later Will and I got home from doing some errands and I went to blow my nose and I spotted a large hawk in the tree out the window.  I grabbed my camera and my extra good zoom lens and was able to get some great shots of the beautiful bird.  ( I kind a have a love affair with Hawks.  Back with Will and I used to drive between McPherson and Emporia to visit his family, or sometimes it was me going to visit him.  I used to see so many Red Tailed hawks so I would count how many I would see.  It was usually well over 10.)  I know we have some that frequent the woods behind out house so it was really cool to get to photograph one.  Will and I looked it up in his good old bird book from Ornithology in College.  We think it was a Red Shouldered  Hawk.

I took advantage of my big zoom lens and was far away but got some great shots
