October 2014

Ahhhhhh October.  What a great month it has been.  Beautiful weather,  a great family vacation, 2 weekends in Greenville, feeling in the groove and enjoying our day to day fall schedule, healthy boys, half marathons and 5Ks, Halloween dress up fun.  I will be sad to see October go.

I feel like I got to see more of Will this month than I have in a long time.  Yes he is still on nights but he was practically up in the daytime as much as he was up a night this month.  The very first weekend of the month we went to Greenville for the weekend and Will was up for most of it with us.  We planned to go to the Airport open house Saturday and then the Ripson Bridge Festival Sunday.  Unfortunately the Ripson Bridge Festival (kind of a big craft fair) got cancelled due to high waters and flooding from rains earlier in the week.  But we did make it to the airport open house and had fun seeing some planes up close and take off and land.  Being out there really brought back a lot of memories and I was surprised how many people I recognized from my high flying days.  It was fun to introduce the boys to aviation and see them get excited about it.  After all that fun Will worked a pretty normal week and before we knew it he was off for 7 days for vacation, which I have already blogged about.  I think part of the reason it was so fun was because the boys are getting older and we are able to go and do more easier with them but also because we get so little family time when all 4 of us are awake and home this year it was great to all be together for the whole week and make memories as a family.  This last part of the month he has been back to his normal schedule and even a little extra over time.

Rex:

Rex is enjoying preschool at lot these days.  He has a best friend Tyson that he looks forward to hanging out with every day at school.  I think he is learning a little bit while he is there too. One funny thing he has been doing this month is whistling at us to get our attention.  All of a sudden one day out of the blue he started whistling and now if Will and I are talking and he wants us he is all like "Hey excuse me *whistle, whistle*".  It is kind of an airy quiet whistle and I seriously have to try hard to not laugh everytime he does it.

Grant:

Fall Grant

Grants has had some ups and downs this month but Im told this is quite common with two year olds?  One great thing is we have totally eliminated water from bedtime and so he is almost always waking up dry (and when I say dry all I mean is that his pajamas, bedding, and blanket are not all soaking with urine of course the diaper is still quite full).  I cant really ever even imagine a day when he will wake up completely dry with no diaper but this for now is a huge step and very nice.  When Grant is complaining or arguing with us he always starts his sentences with "Because I said...."  Like when he opens his door for the 3rd time after I have put him to bed I dont even say anything and he just looks at me and says "because I said I dont want a spanking!" then he puts his hand over his bottom and runs back to bed.  I usually dont even say anything.  Its like he has had the whole conversation for us.
