NEW Recipes
I got a really cool new cookbook for Christmas (thanks Annie) and I have all these pages marked and notes of ingredients to buy and I would love to make a new recipe every day but in reality I know I will be lucky if I make a new one every month. But when I do make a new recipe I would like to start blogging about it. What it was, if it was easy/hard to make, how it turned out, if we liked it, if its a keeper. I will probably start with recipes from the book but maybe even expand to other new recipes I try from other sources. When I have time to find new recipes and get ingredients and make them I really do enjoy cooking these days. So to get us started I have actually already tried a new recipe from the book.
RECIPE ONE: Awesome Granola
It was really easy to mix together and make, it turned out really great ( the only thing I would change is to maybe add more dried berries), and we REALLY like it, I will totally make it again. We have been having it with yogurt, and almond milk, and even just an handful here and there for a quick snack. It also stores really well in an airtight container.
There were a few special ingredients I had to get for it, namely Wheat Germ but now that i have them on hand I should have them for a while.
So recipe one was a success and I will definitely be making it again, soon!
3 Cups Old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/3 cup slivered almonds
1/2 t ground cinnamon
1/3 cup buckwheat honey (I dont even know what that is I just used regular honey)
1/4 cup canola oil
1/3 cup raisins
1/3 cup dried cranberries
Preheat oven to 300 deg and line a shallow pan with foil. In a bowl combine oats, wheat germ, almonds, and cinnamon. In a small pot combine the honey and oil. Heat over medium heat until small bubbles appear around the sides of the pan. Pour over the oats mixture and toss until well combined. Spread granola evenly in pan and bake for 25-30 minutes stirring every 10 until granola turns golden brown. Remove from the oven and stir in raisins and cranberries.

I think I forgot to mention this the first time I read this. I'm all for recipe posting! If you have the time, of course. Thanks for the delightful January update. :) Good luck with the new schedule!
