365 Challenge: Week 8, 9, & 10

Week 8 Challenge: Creative Angles
Week 8 Theme: Perspective

For week 8 we were challenged to get out and take pictures with creative angles rather than straight on with your subject lined up in the middle of the shot.  Our 3 tips were 1-Shoot from Above (works well for kids and pregnant people), 2- Shoot from ground level looking up (works well on babies or tall buildings), 3- Tilt the Camera (but dont go overboard).

I actually took this picture before I knew what the challenge was for the week but it was in the same download as my other photos and I liked how Alex is looking right at the camera.

Same thing here this was in with my photos of our trip to Chicago but I liked the angle and the lighting.

I shot this from the stairs as Rex ran out of his room to come see me.  I made this my  desktop background that little neck  just makes me smile.

this is my attempt to take a picture on an angle, hmmm maybe I should keep practicing.

My attempt to take a pic of something everyday ordinary from below to make it look unique (Will's growing hat collection).

This is my from behind rather than straight on angle. Rex loves to Read.
This was just for fun I took a picture of the clothes I am starting to get washed and hung up for baby with one of the  special effects modes on my camera
Week 9 Challenge: Understanding exposure
Week 9 Theme: Finding the light

For week 9 we were challenged to take our pictures in manual mode and play with the shutter, apertuer, and ISO to manipulate the light in our photographs.  I still dont feel very comfortable in manual mode so I didn't use it but i did find some time to take some pictures and I tried to work with the light.  One thing I learned this week was the definition of Exposure: the total amount of light allowed to fall on the photographic medium during the process of taking a photograph.  All of these photos were taken at my mom and dads house while we were visiting this weekend:

M&D have a very busy suet feeder outside of there windows, I spotted this bird and then Will correctly identified it. (yay college ornithology).  We checked it in the bird book Mom has and it was indeed a Red Bellied Woodpecker.

Just one of my Moms many beautiful African violets.  (She is an African Violet whisperer!)

I thought the morning sun coming in the window was cool so I tried to embrace the theme for the week and  "find the light"

Here are a couple of pictures of Rex also in the morning sunlight.

He is showing me where the whistle is. (just one of his many new words)

I think Rex ended up mooching half of Grandmas breakfast.  Here he is getting a bite of Grapenuts.

Just being silly in his high chair.

Week 10: Choosing a Lens
Week 10 Theme: Shapes

In this weeks lesson we learned about all the many different kinds of lenses and some important things to remember when thinking about purchasing a new one.  Someday I do think it might be fun to have one for shooting up close and also a zoom lens but since I am still learning so much about my camera im not really in a hurry to complicate things with more lens.  While this is the current weeks challenge im going to go ahead an blog about this weeks theme and challenge because I dont think I will be buying any new lenses and I also dont think I feel like going around and taking pictures of shapes.  Maybe sometimes I would find this a fun challenge but this week I would rather do something baby related.  If I do end up taking any creative shape photos I will post them other wise I will just wait till next week and see what that challenge is.
